Mechanical basin horn only emits single tone. Its structure is different from that of sound horn. Sound horns are pronounced by disk diaphragm vibration, while car horns are pronounced by metal diaphragm vibration. The basin-shaped electric horn of automobile does not have a loudspeaker. It is flat in shape, small in volume, light in weight and easy to install. It has a slightly inferior sound quality but is widely used.

Working Principle of Mechanical Disc Horn

Mechanical disc horns are composed of iron core, magnetic coils, contacts, armature, diaphragm, etc. When the driver presses the button, the current passes through the contact through the coil, which generates magnetic force to pull down the armature and force the diaphragm to move. The armature moves to disconnect the contact, and the interruption magnetic force disappears. The diaphragm restores with the armature under its own elasticity and spring action. The contact closing circuit is connected, and the current flows through the contact to generate magnetic force through the coil, repeating the above action. The diaphragm is repeatedly broken and vibrated to produce sound. The rigid connection between the resonance plate and the diaphragm can make the vibration smooth and sound more pleasant.
