Before understanding the adjustment method of the snail horn, we must first grasp its sound-producing principle:
The snail-shaped car electric horn comes with a loudspeaker tube, which is rolled into a snail shape to compress the volume, producing a beautiful and loud sound quality.
The electric car horn, lacking a loudspeaker, is flat in shape, small in size, lightweight, and easy to install. Its sound quality may be slightly inferior, yet it is widely used. Both the snail-shaped and basin-shaped horns operate on the same basic principle: when the driver presses the button, current flows through the coil via the contact, generating magnetic force that pulls down the armature and forces the diaphragm steel sheet to move. The movement of the armature disconnects the contact, interrupting the current and causing the magnetic force to disappear. The diaphragm steel sheet, under its own elasticity and the action of the spring leaf, returns to its original position along with the armature, closing the contact and completing the circuit. The current then flows through the coil again, generating magnetic force, and the process repeats. This continuous cycle of diaphragm vibration produces sound. The resonance plate is rigidly connected to the diaphragm steel sheet, ensuring smooth vibration and producing a more pleasant sound. Generally, the tone and volume of an electric car horn can be adjusted. The tone can be adjusted by adjusting the gap between the armature and the iron core, while the volume can be adjusted by adjusting the contact pressure. Once the volume is adjusted, the coil current also changes accordingly. To maintain the specified sound quality and volume, some electric horns are fully sealed and cannot be adjusted. If they break, they need to be replaced entirely. So, how do you adjust a snail horn?
There are two adjustment parts for the horn: one is to change the iron core gap, and the other is to change the contact pressure. The adjustment of the electric horn includes two parts: volume and tone adjustment.
1. The pitch of the tone depends on the frequency of the diaphragm's vibration. Changing the iron core gap can alter the diaphragm's vibration frequency, thereby changing the pitch (some are already adjusted during manufacturing and do not require adjustment during operation). Loosen the lock nut, rotate the iron core, (the pitch increases when the gap decreases, and decreases when the gap increases) and when the appropriate pitch is achieved, tighten the nut.
2. The volume level is related to the magnitude of the current passing through the coil. The louder the volume emitted by the horn, the greater the operating current passing through it. The magnitude of the current passing through the coil can be adjusted by changing the contact pressure of the horn contacts. The volume adjustment of a basin-shaped electric horn can be achieved by adjusting the screw to adjust the contact pressure, thereby adjusting the volume.
