This current activates the electromagnet inside the horn, causing the diaphragm to vibrate and produce sound.

1. Circuit fault
The main circuit faults are due to faulty wiring connections, such as loose horn plug terminals, burnt horn relay contacts, and poor contact of the horn switch at the steering wheel. However, in many horn malfunctions, especially those occurring in winter, the fault lies with the horn itself.
2. Fault in the horn itself
Taking into account factors such as usage environment, the main reasons for the malfunction of the loudspeaker itself are as follows:
(1) Contact erosion: Prolonged horn pressing can easily cause horn contact erosion, leading to impedance. This reduces the current flowing through the electromagnetic coil, and the electromagnetic attraction force decreases, making it impossible to attract the armature and drive the diaphragm to vibrate normally. Consequently, the sound becomes hoarse or even inaudible. However, when the horn is pressed continuously, if a momentary strong current passes through the impedance, it can still work normally, which explains why it may work intermittently;
(2) Poor sealing and susceptibility to moisture: Although the interior of the horn is sealed, if the sealing is not tight, moisture from mist or water vapor in the air can easily enter during car washing, causing the contacts to become wet and unable to function properly;
(3) Poor contact of electromagnetic coil terminals: Some horns have internal electromagnetic coil enameled wire terminal connectors that are crimped with aluminum metal rivets, rather than being securely welded. If the insulating paint on the enameled wire at the end is not completely removed or the rivet crimping is not secure, it is easy to cause a faulty connection, leading to poor horn operation.
